1. The Iranian Journal of Botany publishes original papers in the field of plant taxonomy and related subjects such as molecular systematics and phylogeny, phytogeography, cytology, morphology, anatomy, embryology, and phytochemistry. Short papers on chromosome counts will be considered for publication.
The voucher specimens of all studied materials must be defined and preserved in a herbarium.
2. Only English manuscripts will be accepted. A summary of the manuscript must be provided in Persian language. The editor will prepare the Persian summary for the manuscripts submitted by none Persian-speaking authors.
3. The manuscripts must be submitted electronically to the journal website at http://ijb.areeo.ac.ir/. All correspondence during the manuscript submission and review process must go through the journal website. The manuscript must be prepared with Microsoft Word 2007, using 10 points Times New Roman font. Illustrations [line drawings (bitmap, 1200 dpi or higher) and pictures (600 dpi or higher)] should be as Adobe files.
4. The authors submitting a manuscript and the co-authors are requested to enter the submission form and register on the journal website and fill in the fields. Fields marked with an asterisk are mandatory.
5. Correspondence of the paper should be indicated.
6. A written agreement of all co-authors must be sent by initial manuscript submission.
7. The authors must avoid simultaneous submission of the manuscript to multiple journals.
8. An abstract of about 150-250 words should be given for the papers. The abstract must include a short introduction, methods, and results.
9. Address/addresses of the author/authors should be given after the abstract, full first name is necessary.
10. About 10 keywords should be followed after the addresses.
For example: Umbelliferae; karyotype; idiograms; Iran
11. A short headline of the title should be given on the first page.
12. Taxa below the generic level should be followed by the author of the name in the first mention.
13. Figures, tables, and maps in the text should be cited as Fig. 1; Fig. 2, Table 1, Map 1.
14. Size of figures, tables, and maps including footnotes should be 22.5´16.5 cm or an appropriate size for the desired reduction. Figures, tables, and footnotes should be on separate pages.
15. References in the text could be in any of the following forms: (Rechinger 1998); Rechinger (1998); (Rechinger & al. 1950) or (Rechinger & Esfandiari 1980). If more than one reference is mentioned, they must be separated by a semicolon (Rechinger & al. 1950; Rechinger & Esfandiari 1980; Hedge & Lamond 1978).
16. References should be given at the end of the paper in alphabetical order. Papers of a single author are arranged according to the year of publication. If there is more than a paper in a year, they are marked by a, b, etc. i. e 1998a, 1998b. If there is a repeated author name for the next reference, then the shared name should be indicated by an Em Dash. The journal names must be written according to their designated abbreviations.
