The monotypic genus Decalepidanthus, with one species D. sericophyllus H. Riedl., is endemic to Pakistan and was previously known only from the type collection in the hilly Hazara tracts of the North West Frontier Province (N.W.F.P.). Its rediscovery after a lapse of 70 years in the Koh-Safed base of the Kurram Agency, raises the probability that it might occur in neighbouring Afghanistan and possibly elsewhere.
Chromosome counts of 34 taxa belong to the genus Astragalus are recorded. More to a table which is showing chromosome number and previous chromosomic counts of the taxa, karyotype morphology of some relatives are briefly discussed. Figures of the karyotype of some taxa are given.
Two new species of Allium are described: A. esfandiarii from NW. Iran and A. wendelboi from W. Iran, of the section Allium. Relatives or affinities of the new species are discussed and the differences are explained.
The plant family Violaceae in Iran has been revised. A key to the species, nomenclature, selected specimens and necessary notes for the taxa are presented. Altogether 19 species are known from Iran. Viola spathulata var. delirensis is described as new. V. elatior and V. hirta are new records from Iran. V. cinerea var. bornmulleri = V. cinerea and V. makranica = V. behboudiana are new synonymes.
Cephalaria transsylvanica, C. uralensis and Knautia involucrata are recorded as new to the flora of Iran. Scabiosa esfandiarii is described from the province Bakhtiari as a new species. Two new subspecific taxa including S. columbaria subsp. caespitosa and S. persica var. rosea are described from N. and W. of Iran.
Original chromosome observations including number for 28 species representing 16 genera are reported. 3 of these are endemic to Flora Iranica area and 10 species are reported for the first time. Meiotic behavior are noted in some species.
Saponaria esfandiarii is described as new species from S. Iran. Limonium sogdianum, Medicago noaea, Calligonum paletzkianum and Symphyandra zangezura are reported as new plant records from the different parts of Iran.
